Nordic Nights: The County (Héraðið) by Grímur Hákonarson

Our next Nordic Nights feature is an Icelandic film from 2019: The County (Héraðið) by Grímur Hákonarson.

Screened in the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival and 2020 Gimli Film Festival the film focuses on an Icelandic woman named Inga who runs a deeply indebted dairy farm in a remote valley in Iceland. After a tragic loss, she decides to rise up against the corrupt establishment exploiting her and the local community and finally live life on her own terms.
