Nordic Nights: Are You Icelandic (2021) and Helgi on a Stick (2019) by Magnea Björk Valdimarsdóttir

Nordic Nights returns in its online format Tuesday, Sept. 27th at 7pm  with two Icelandic films. Are you Icelandic? is a documentary by Magnea Björk Valdimarsdóttir which tells the story of four different women who emigrated to Iceland from Bosnia, Poland, Jamaica and Turkey. With a focus on Icelandic identity, each woman has a unique story to tell. These four charming women defy, define and celebrate what it means to be an Icelander of foreign origin living in Iceland today. Are you Icelandic?  will be preceded by Helgi on a Stick, a short film about a regular in one of Iceland’s oldest cafes, Prikið.
