Nordic Nights: Lynx Man (Ilveskuiskaaja), by Juha Suonpää (2023)

Our next Nordic Nights feature is the Finnish film Lynx Man (Ilveskuiskaaja) (2023) by Juha Suonpää.

Synopsis

A quirky poetic documentary by Juha Suonpää about Hannu, who lives on his farm and woodlands in Western Finland. With time on his hands, he sets up trail cameras all over his property with the hope of seeing the Eurasian lynx that had been on the brink of extinction. The lynxes have indeed returned and capture Hannu’s imagination and his heart as he hopes his lands can be a sanctuary for them. Just as the cameras follow the lynx and other creatures, Hannu himself is the human animal under observation by the film crew. North American premiere at Toronto’s Hot Docs in 2023.
