DESCRIPTION:REINTRODUCING OUR LIBRARY… AND 2015 ICELAND WRITERS RETREAT  \nDid you know that our club has a library\, including books in both English and Icelandic? It contains fiction\, books about history\, copies of Icelandic Canadian magazine\, and much more. \nIt has been relocated to former president Kara Schuster’s home in the west end of Toronto\, and you are invited to come and check it out… \n\nMonday January 12 7:30pm @ Kara´s house in Mimico… FREE EVENT RSVP to karaschuster@me.com for address. \nAt the same time\, we will have a visit from Eliza Reid\, Founding Director of Iceland Writers Retreat… Eliza says… \n“Myths\, magic and sagas — Iceland’s robust storytelling culture has made it one of the most coveted destinations for creative minds. Iceland boasts the most writers and published books per capita in the world\, and Reykjavík is the first non-native English speaking UNESCO City of Literature.” \nCanadian Eliza Reid has lived in Iceland for 11 years and is Founding Director of the Iceland Writers Retreat\, an annual gathering for published and aspiring writers that is comprised of a series of small-group writing workshops and several cultural tours and readings designed to introduce people to Iceland’s rich literary heritage. \nShe’ll be there to talk to us about the Retreat\, what makes Iceland so special for lovers of the written word\, and life in the country in general. Here´s a picture of last year´s group in front of Nobel prize winner Halldor Laxness´ house Gljufrasteinn. \nKara’s house is easy to get to\, free street parking or a $4 green P across the street. It’s half a block North of Lakeshore\, between Mimico Ave and Parklawn Road. 501 streetcar west to Longbranch\, or East to Humber Loop\, exit at Superior. 76a bus from Royal York Subway\, exit at 2nd Mimico stop (Bank of Montreal) walk east 2 blocks to Superior.
