DESCRIPTION:ICCT photographer Kara Schuster shows her work during the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival  … the subject is Djúpavík\, Iceland\, former herring capital.\n \nIn a remote region in Iceland lies a valley untouched by modern development. It is here that Schuster photographs nature’s influence on a society that modernism left behind. Djúpavík is a small fishing town\, home to a 1930s herring factory that was once the largest concrete building in Iceland but closed in 1954. The beauty of the surrounding mountainous landscape is echoed in these haunting architectural remains\, a testament to the silent hand of time.    \nOpening night is May 12th.
