Fjóla Evans performs at Music Gallery

Fjola-Evans-01Fjóla Evans is a composer and cellist originally from Reykjavík, Iceland, with roots in Toronto, who writes both electronic and acoustic music. At the Music Gallery on May 8th she will be presenting a work for solo cello and electronics which is based on her study of Icelandic folk songs and Rímur, a project supported by the Canada Council for the Arts. The concert will feature Architek Percussion from Montreal who will play a piece they commissioned Fjóla to write as the grand prize winner of GroundSwell’s 2014 Emerging Canadian Composers Competition.  Fjóla will also perform in Gimli, Manitoba this March as part of Núna (Now) and in Winnipeg for the Cluster New Music + Integrated Arts Festival.  She is a former scholarship recipient of ICCT.
